If you had told me eight years ago when I founded Groh that we’d be launching our third business pillar via Kickstarter, I might have laughed.
We started by designing custom playrooms. Then we built our shop to make our favorite, trusted active play equipment accessible. But today, we are taking the biggest leap in our company's history: launching The Everyday Line directly to our community, starting with The Everyday Foam Pit on Kickstarter this October 1st.
To understand why we’re taking this leap, I have to take you into the core of why Groh exists in the first place—and right into my own home.
The Hidden Systemic Gap in Kids' Spaces
At the heart of every single playroom our studio has created over the past eight years, there has always been a deeper mission.
So many kids spend their days navigating environments that simply were not built for their nervous systems. School demands hours of sitting still, controlling impulses, and fitting into rigid physical boxes. By the time 5:00 PM hits and kids come home, their bodies are completely disregulated. They aren't trying to disrupt the evening rhythm or act out. They are experiencing a profound sensory deficit.
When a child doesn't have a safe physical outlet for big body movement, their behavior gets labeled as "wild" or "disruptive." They end up feeling misunderstood by the very spaces meant to support them.
As a Mom to Two Kids with ADHD, This Hits Close to Home
Like so many of the families we serve, our own home is currently in a season of transition. We are in the design phase of a major home addition, which means our future custom playroom is still just a set of architectural blueprints. In the meantime, our house doubles as the official testing ground for Groh—there are days when it feels like production samples and prototypes are completely taking over. There's even a whole fort in my kitchen!
At first, I thought my kids were just in-house product testers. It turned out to be so much deeper than that.
Our current playroom is 8’ x 8’ and is a dedicated craft space for my two kids, who are both passionate creators. Since there isn’t space in our playroom, our prototype of The Everyday Foam Pit has been a nomad—moving from the home office to the basement gym and into the bedrooms. Watching how my two kids with ADHD interact with it every space changed everything for our family.
I absolutely love how a single, open-ended tool can support two completely different nervous systems:
- My nine-year-old son uses the pit as a quiet sensory sanctuary—buried under foam cubes reading, listening to audiobooks, or relaxing during screen time.
- My seven-year-old daughter is all movement—spinning, crashing, and engineering high towers of cubes just to leap through them.
And as they grow, the foam pit will naturally adapt to whatever regulatory input they need on any given day.
It proved what I’ve always believed: you don't need a massive, finished custom playroom to give your children sensory regulation. You just need the right physical tools anchored in your home.
Bringing The Everyday Line Straight to You
In the fall of 2024, a major retail partnership gave us the exact manufacturing bridge we needed to develop The Everyday Line: a collection of active play equipment, play furniture, and toys built for real homes.
We were originally set to launch this complete collection through that retail partner this year. But when logistics changes pushed our timeline back, we realized something simple: families need these tools right now. We couldn't justify holding back a real-world sensory solution while waiting on an extended timeline.
So, we bypassed the middleman to launch the centerpiece of our line directly to you on Kickstarter.
By bringing this straight to our community, we are working with our vetted, trusted overseas manufacturing partners to deliver high-quality construction at a mass-production price: under $600 MSRP (and $399 for our first 75 waitlist backers).
Giving Grown-ups Their Time Back
This Kickstarter isn't just a product launch for us. It is the beginning of Groh’s next chapter.
While this line is built to help kids thrive, regulate, and feel understood in their own homes, it is ultimately about you, the parents and caregivers. When kids have an environment that absorbs their big energy and supports their nervous systems, it creates a massive ripple effect across the household. It gives grown-ups the time, space, and quiet mental bandwidth to regulate, take care of themselves, and show up as the present, grounded parents they truly want to be.
