A traditional climbing wall challenges kids to move up, across, and around a flat surface. The Ascend 3D Climbing Panel takes that experience a step further.
- By creating a dimensional climbing configuration, the 3D panel gives kids more opportunities to think about how they position their hands, feet, and bodies as they navigate a route. It adds a new layer of challenge without requiring an entirely different climbing system.
- The panel is mounted on the included Standard Frame, creating an approximately 8.75" deep overall profile. Combine 3D panels with other Ascend frame configurations to create climbing walls with multiple planes, angles, and routes.

Installation Guide
The Ascend 3D Climbing Panel is designed for indoor installation on an appropriate vertical structural wall.
The included Standard Frame must be securely attached to the appropriate wall structure before the climbing panel is attached to the frame.
For Wood or Metal Stud Walls
The Standard Frame must cross a minimum of two studs, with the appropriate structural screws installed into the center of the studs. The installation guide specifies a minimum of four structural fasteners per panel for wood and metal stud installations.
For Concrete or CMU Walls
The installation guide specifies a minimum of four appropriate structural fasteners per panel, installed directly into the wall according to the specified fastener schedule.
Once the frame is securely mounted, center the Ascend panel on the Standard Frame and attach it using the twelve provided Panel Connector Screws. The screw heads should sit flush with the surface of the panel.
Before You Install
Make sure:
-Your wall is structurally appropriate for the installation.
-You have the correct structural fasteners for your wall type.
-The climbing area is free of furniture and other obstructions.
-Any electrical outlets behind the panel are properly addressed before installation.
-Adequate fall protection is in place.
-The frame is securely attached to the wall.
-The panel is properly attached to the frame.
-The product is installed exactly according to the installation guide.
Brick is not an acceptable mounting surface. Ascend Climbing Panels are designed for indoor use only.
Because structural attachment is critical to safe use, Groh recommends installation by an experienced, licensed, and insured general contractor.

Climbing Safety
Climbing and bouldering are inherently active activities that require appropriate supervision, installation, and fall protection.
The Ascend 3D Climbing Panel is designed for recreational bouldering, which is free-climbing without a belay. The panel, frame, and T-nuts are not designed or rated to function as anchor or belay systems.
For safe use:
-One user at a time.
-Adult supervision is required for children under 6.
-Proper falling technique should be taught and practiced.
-Do not jump or swing from the panels.
-Do not walk close to or directly behind an active climber.
-Keep the climbing area free from furniture and other obstructions.
-Always use an appropriate engineered fall attenuation surface.
-Do not attach unapproved equipment to the panel.
-Regularly inspect the panel, frame, wall attachment, and climbing holds.
The installation guide specifically requires appropriate fall attenuation during use and emphasizes keeping the climbing area clear of obstructions.
Choosing Climbing Holds
Climbing Holds are sold separately, allowing you to customize the climbing experience based on your child's age, skill level, and goals.
Because the 3D panel is intended to create additional challenge, consider using a combination of hold shapes and sizes to create routes that encourage different types of movement.
As your climber develops, reposition the holds to change the route and introduce new challenges.
Care + Maintenance
The Ascend 3D Climbing Panel is designed to be easy to maintain.
-Wipe the panel clean with a clean, damp cloth.
-Do not use solvents, abrasives, or harsh cleaners.
-Inspect the panel and frame regularly for damage or wear.
-Check for separation between the frame and wall.
-Check for separation between the climbing panel and frame.
-Look for splintering, delamination, or deterioration.
-Check climbing hold bolts regularly.
-Tighten modular handhold bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
The installation manual calls for inspection and maintenance every 30 days, including checking the attachment of the panel and frame and handhold bolt torque. Heavily used installations may require more frequent inspections.

Buy more panels to save on shipping! The panels are shipped via freight due to their weight and size. It generally costs as much to ship 6 panels as it does to ship 1, for example. Every shipment requires a protective, custom crate, included in the cost of shipping.

The Ascend system is designed as a self-installable climbing product, but Groh strongly recommends installation by an experienced, licensed, and insured general contractor. The installer is responsible for verifying that the existing wall meets the structural requirements.
The Ascend collection can be installed on appropriate wood stud, metal stud, concrete, or CMU support structures that meet the requirements in the installation guide. Brick is not an acceptable attachment structure.
