The Ascend Climbing Panel with Wedge Frame is designed for climbers who are ready for something beyond a traditional flat climbing wall.
- The Wedge Frame positions the panel on an incline, creating a gradual transition between flat panels and the deeper profile of Box Frames. This adds dimension to your climbing route without making the entire wall dramatically more challenging.
- Even better, the Wedge Frame can be installed in four different orientations—sloping up, down, left, or right—giving you flexibility to create unique climbing configurations based on your space and your child's abilities.
- Use one Wedge Frame as a dynamic standalone feature or combine it with other Ascend panels to build a larger climbing wall with changing angles and challenges.

Please note: Structural fasteners used to secure the Wedge Frame to your wall are not included. The appropriate fasteners depend on your wall construction and must be purchased separately.
Installation Guide
The Ascend Climbing Panel with Wedge Frame is designed for indoor installation on an appropriate structural wall.
One of the unique benefits of the Wedge Frame is its installation flexibility. The frame can be oriented in four directions—sloping up, down, left, or right—allowing you to customize the direction of the climbing route.
For Wood or Metal Stud Walls
The Wedge Frame must cross a minimum of two wall studs. The frame should be leveled and secured using the specified structural fasteners centered in the studs.
For CMU or Concrete Walls
The installation guide specifies a minimum of four fasteners—two at the top and two at the bottom—spaced 24" on-center, using the appropriate fasteners for the wall type.
Once the frame is securely attached to the wall, the Ascend panel is centered on the frame and attached using the eight provided Panel Connector Screws.
Before You Install
Make sure:
-Your wall is structurally appropriate for the installation.
-You have the correct structural fasteners for your wall type.
-The climbing area is clear of furniture and other obstructions.
-The frame is installed in the desired orientation.
-Adequate fall protection is in place.
-The product is installed exactly according to the installation guide.
Brick and rock veneer are not acceptable installation surfaces. Ascend Panels are for indoor use only and cannot be installed outdoors.
Because climbing equipment requires proper structural attachment, Groh recommends installation by an experienced, licensed, and insured general contractor.

Climbing Safety
Climbing is an inherently active sport and requires appropriate supervision, installation, and fall protection.
The Ascend Climbing Panel is designed for indoor recreational bouldering, not roped climbing. No component of the panel, Wedge Frame, or T-nuts should be used as an anchor, belay anchor, lead bolt, or other personal anchor system.
For safe use:
-One user at a time.
-Adult supervision is required for children under 6.
-Proper falling technique should be taught and practiced.
-Do not jump or swing from the panel.
-Do not walk close to or directly behind an active climber.
-Keep the climbing area clear of furniture and other obstructions.
-Use an appropriate engineered fall attenuation surface.
-Do not attach unapproved equipment to the panel.
-Inspect the installation and hardware regularly.
Groh recommends a minimum 6-foot perimeter around the installed panels for falling and dismounting clearance. For walls under 10 feet used for bouldering, crash mats are recommended.
Choosing Climbing Holds
Climbing Holds are sold separately, allowing you to customize the experience based on your child's age, skill level, and climbing goals.
For most Ascend panels, Groh recommends 10–12 climbing holds to create routes suitable for a range of skill levels. Holds can be repositioned to create new challenges as your child develops.
Climbing holds should not extend more than 19" from the face of the attachment wall. Always confirm that your selected holds are appropriate for the intended installation and use.

Care + Maintenance
Ascend Climbing Panels are designed to be low maintenance.
-Wipe panels clean with a damp cloth.
-Use only non-abrasive cleaners when needed.
-Do not use harsh solvents or abrasive cleaning products.
-Regularly inspect the panel, frame, wall attachment, and climbing holds.
-Check for separation between the frame and wall or between the panel and frame.
-Look for splintering, delamination, or deterioration.
-Check climbing hold bolts regularly and ensure they remain properly tightened.
-Periodically check T-nuts for damage or loosening.
Groh recommends routine visual inspections of the panel, frame, wall attachment, and hardware, with more frequent checks for heavily used installations.

Please inspect your order as soon as it arrives and verify that all hardware and components are included before beginning installation. If anything is missing, damaged, or defective, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery and provide photos of the product, packaging, and any affected components when applicable.
Reports made after 48 hours may be subject to additional replacement hardware, component, or shipping charges. Prompt inspection helps us work with the manufacturer to resolve any issues as quickly as possible.
While the Ascend system is designed to be self-installable, Groh recommends having gross motor features installed by an experienced, licensed, and insured general contractor. Proper structural attachment is critical to safe use.
The Ascend system can be installed on appropriate wood studs, metal studs, concrete, or CMU structures that meet the requirements in the installation guide. Brick and rock veneer are not acceptable attachment surfaces.
No. Ascend Panels mounted with a Standard, Box, or Wedge Frame cannot be cut. We recommend a frameless panel if you need to cut it.
Yes. Appropriate fall protection should be used beneath and around the climbing wall. For bouldering walls under 10 feet, the installation guide states that crash mats are sufficient.

Ascend Climbing Panels ship via freight on a pallet. The freight carrier will bring the delivery to the home or business and place the pallet on the ground by the truck. A responsible adult must be onsite to receive the delivery.
Because these are large, heavy, made-to-order products, customers should inspect the shipment for damage at delivery and document any damage before accepting the shipment.
