A Little Wall. A Big Adventure.
Turn an ordinary wall into an opportunity to climb, explore, and build confidence.
- The Explorer Climbing Panel brings the benefits of indoor climbing into a compact, thoughtfully designed format. At approximately 50"H × 34"W, each panel creates a dedicated climbing experience without requiring an entire wall, making it an excellent choice for playrooms, bedrooms, basements, and other active play spaces.
- The included standard frame creates the necessary space between the panel and wall for secure climbing-hold installation, while the textured plywood surface provides additional grip. Add bolt-on climbing holds to create routes that can change as your child's skills develop.
- Designed by climbing experts and made in the USA, Explorer Panels give children a purposeful way to move, problem-solve, and challenge themselves through play.

Brick and rock veneer are not acceptable installation surfaces.
For stud walls, the frame must attach to a minimum of two studs, with specified structural screws installed into the center of each stud. The appropriate fastener depends on the wall construction.
Wall-mounting fasteners are not included because the appropriate hardware varies by wall type.

-Level
-5/16" Allen key
-Specified structural fasteners
-Additional tools as outlined in the installation guide
The product is considered DIY-friendly, but Groh recommends installation by an experienced, licensed, and insured general contractor for gross motor products.
Safety + Use Requirements
The Explorer Climbing Panel is designed for bouldering—free climbing without a belay—and must be used with an appropriate engineered fall-attenuation surface.
For safe use:
-Maximum climber weight: 270 lbs
-One user at a time
-Adult supervision required for children under 6
-Proper fall technique is required
-Do not jump or swing from the panel
-Do not attach items other than bolt-on modular handholds or approved grOH! equipment
-Never use the panel or T-nuts as an anchor or belay point
-Keep the climbing area clear of furniture and other obstructions
-Always use an appropriate fall-attenuation surface
Safety Mats Are Part of the Setup
A climbing wall isn't complete without appropriate flooring beneath it.
The installation guide recommends floor protection for Explorer Panels and specifically notes that for walls under 10 feet used for bouldering, safety mats are sufficient.
Pair your Explorer Panel with Groh Safety Mats to create a more complete active play environment.
Care + Maintenance
Explorer Panels are designed to be low maintenance.
To care for your panel:
-Wipe the surface with a clean, damp cloth
-Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners
-Inspect the panel and frame regularly
-Check for separation between the frame and wall
-Check for separation between the panel and frame
-Inspect for splintering, delamination, or deterioration
-Check climbing-hold bolts regularly
The installation guide recommends inspecting the panel and mounting frame every 30 days, with more frequent inspections for heavily used installations.
